Fabio Bacchini, also known as Darth Funk, is a DJ and Producer from Italy.
Recently he founded his own label “Mindtravel Recordings” and released two vinyl records already. The first record is “Fabio Bacchini – Skyscrapers” and contains beside Fabio’s Original Mix, Remixes from Digital Villains, Joey Youngman and Stacy Kidd.
The second record “Fabio Bacchni & Christian Malloni – First Flight EP” will be in the stores soon.

Why did you found your own label and why did you choose the name “Mindtravel Recordings”?
Well to me that was something natural after working with different labels for quite some time. I just had so many tracks sitting down and i wanted to speed up things. Also i like diggin for unreleased tracks from producers all over the world…and why not, i’m trying to do my part in keeping the vinyl alive. I’m still wondering why i choosed the name “mindtravel” . Maybe it’s something related to the feeling that people have when listening to good music? I’m still not sure about it. No drugs were involved during the conception of this name though. Seriously I just wanted something different from all the other labels when i came up with that shit.

Are you working on a next release on Mindtravel recordings already?
Yes, it will be a super ossum sampler. I can’t say more (business tactic you know).

The style of your label is deep Jackin, junky and chicago house. How did you develop your passion for this kind of music and why do you like it?
I think it’s all started when i heard radio programs like “funky disco” and “club dance nation” back in the 90s here in Rome. There were DJs playing jazzy funk grooves in the early afternoon and then house music. Man, I was hooked. I used to record that kind of music on my stereo and listen to it all day and everywhere with my walkman. I still have some of those tapes somewhere in my studio.
Also a big influence for me was the “chicago-paris connection” …I mean artists that made the top chart in the late 90s like Daft Punk, Stardust, Paul Johnson, Stacy Kidd, Cassius, Etienny de Crecy etc.

When did you start with DJing and producing and was it a long way to the creation of Mindtravel Recordings?
Well, yeah it was a long way since I started making music at the age of five with Atari st 1024. I’m now 23 and shit, I think I spent a FUCKTON of time sitting in front of a monitor :=) It’s never enough though.

Do you have plans for an europe tour and even some gigs in germany?
Yep. I’m now working with a new Italian DJ agency called “Musiculture” so expect some new DJ dates soon!
